Carb Compliant

Formaldehyde emissions standards for composite wood products are established by the EPA in conjunction with the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

FloorScore® is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. It was developed by SCS with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), and SCS is the exclusive certification body.

Phthalate Free

Phthalates are compounds used to achieve flexibility in plastic products.  Vinyl flooring manufacturers stating their products are “Phthalate Free” have found safer non-phthalate plasticizer alternatives for production, and are pledging that any recycled content is also free of harmful phthalates.  This page on Metroflor’s website efficiently explains phthalate plasticizers.

The National Wood Flooring Association verifies that hardwood has been harvested with a chain of custody from responsibly managed, sustainable forestry practices.

AHMI Verified Sustainable

Appalachian Hardwood Verified Sustainable assures consumers that lumber and products sourced from the region are growing 2.4 times the rate of harvest and mortality combined. This is based on US Forest Service Forest Inventory Analysis.

Forest Stewardship Council

The Forest Stewardship Council certifies Chain of Custody and verifies the manufacturing of FSC®-certified flooring by special order. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) provides third-party certification confirming that materials used are harvested from well-managed forests.

Greenguard

Greenguard is a voluntary third-party program that test for chemicals and Volatile Organic Compounds in households products including flooring and furniture. Products that have achieved Greenguard Certification are scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous third-party chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure. There are both Greenguard and Greenguard GOLD certifications.

ASSURE Certified

​This cerification applies to WPC or SPC flooring construction and tests for indoor air quality, rigorous performance, and low heavy metals & ortho-phthalates content.
